The JEMA LIFT stairlift is a unique 2-in-1 solution. It is adapted to fit the existing steps, making it a concealed lift built into the staircase. It can be manufactured with up to three steps and lifts both people and heavy loads with stability. It can be designed for both outdoor and indoor use.

The stairlift is always designed for the specific application and supplied as a turnkey project. We manufacture it in our own workshop and our experienced fitters carry out the installation on site. The JEMA LIFT stairlift is the preferred solution among the country’s leading architectural firms.

Shown at stair level, in the lowered position and in the raised position. Shown here installed at By & Havn in Copenhagen.

Plant room

The pump unit and lift control system are installed externally, preferably in a plant room.

Hydraulic conduit:

A conduit with a minimum diameter of Ø80 mm is installed in the pit. The conduits are routed directly to the plant room. The positioning of the conduits is generally flexible; however, the specified height in the pit must be adhered to. Avoid sharp bends in the conduit.

Cabling for control panel/gate lock:

A cable route must be provided for power from the plant room or pit to the location of the controls. Preparations must be made to allow the controls to be integrated into the wall.

Tips:

It may be advantageous to create a drainage sump at the bottom of the pit, and, if necessary, to reinforce the concrete edges with angle steel.

Tolerances:

The length and width of the pit must be adhered to, and tolerances set so that the pit is not smaller than specified at any point. Walls must be plumb and straight.

Operation of stairlifts:

At JEMA LIFT, we distinguish between two types of wheelchair users or people with walking difficulties:

  • Group 1: Those who are independent and can operate the lift themselves
  • Group 2: Those who require assistance with operation

Our stairlift is typically designed for Group 2. The lift is operated by trained staff, as this is part of the risk assessment (CE marking). This may be a receptionist, a caretaker or other staff.

The following control functions are required as a minimum: Lift up, lift down, step up, step down. To be positioned at level 1.

The push-button is fitted into a Ø22.5 mm hole. Recess depth: approximately 40 mm.

Additional functions:

  • Depending on the lift’s location, a call function can also be provided so that staff can be summoned to the lift.
  • In some situations, for safety reasons, a warning signal in the form of light or sound may be required when the lift is in use.
  • Lift up/down controls at level 2, and possibly also on the platform.
  • Switch, possibly key-operated. This can be selected if you wish to prevent unauthorised persons from using the lift (e.g. children or if the lift is located outdoors).

Cable routes must be established between controls, switches, signals, etc., and the control unit.

Dimensioning of front panel with push-buttons:

Our push-button switches can be integrated into a profile tube or fitted into a Harmony XAP XAPE30x aluminium front panel, which is screwed to the wall. Remember to fit a Harmony XAP_XAPE90x flush-mounted box.

The choice of front panel is determined by the number of functions required.
